Childhood hunger is a problem worldwide. Parents often do their best to provide healthy meals for their children but due to limited resources, it can be a struggle. Children may receive less than ideal meals when they are not attending school.
Sharon Goodyear recognized the problem in her community and took action. She created the Summer Kitchen, that provides healthy meals for children during the summer. Food is donated by local farmers and provided by other community resources. She also teaches parents how to cook healthy meals. In a world where people often shame others for their inability to provide, the Summer Kitchen is a safe place to get help and nourishment—without judgement.
